A simple mistake that is seen frequently on forums is people asking where their site isn’t showing for any search terms after waiting a reasonable length of time. This is usually because they’ve selected the following option.
Settings -> Reading
To stop your site being indexed simply tick the box. If you want your site to be shown in search engines make sure it is unticked.
